My Approach to Aesthetic Dental Wellness and Its Integral Part in Positive Dentistry

In recent years, there’s been a paradigm shift in modern dentistry, moving away from a strictly clinical approach towards a more balanced and positive outlook. I refer to this shift as positive dentistry.

Just as psychologists have embraced positive psychology to focus on the present and future, I recognize the importance of looking forward, embracing authenticity, and better catering to the specific needs of my patients.

Looking Beyond the Past

In the past, dentistry was focused on reactively addressing dental issues as they happened.

While your dental history certainly plays an integral role, it’s not the complete story of your oral wellness. To provide the best possible care, it’s important to approach dentistry with a positive perspective. For example, you may have had dental concerns in the past, but more importantly, what can we do at this moment to help you have a beautiful, healthy smile for your future?

Dentistry is no longer just about fixing problems; it’s about prevention, maintenance, and improving your quality of life. I view dental wellness as a lifestyle!

Embracing the Wellness Lifestyle: Going Beyond Oral Health

At Glint, I believe dentistry goes beyond mere clinical procedures; it’s an integral part of the wellness lifestyle, akin to going to the gym, your favorite wellness spa, or taking care of your mental health. It’s about taking care of your smile and understanding the effects it can have on your overall well-being.

Oral hygiene rituals, such as brushing, flossing, and using mouthwash, promote self-care and mindfulness. These daily oral hygiene practices encourage you to slow down, be present in the moment, and prioritize your health, which fosters a sense of well-being and self-nurturing.

It’s also important to recognize that the different aspects of our health are interconnected.

Numerous studies have shown there’s a strong correlation between oral health and systemic health conditions, such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Regular dental check-ups, cleanings, and screenings allow us to identify potential oral health issues at an early stage before they become more serious concerns.

Incorporating oral health into your wellness routine allows you to invest in your long-term health and happiness.

Keep Track of Your Progress

To help empower our patients and give them additional tools for their overall health and wellness, I’ve embraced several innovative technologies.

For example, we use a practice management software called Oryx, which allows us to share comprehensive information about your oral health with you. Each time you visit us at Glint, you’ll receive a detailed report that will allow you to track your progress.

You’ll also have access to a patient portal, where you can send us messages, schedule appointments, and review your dental care journey at any time.

Join the Positive Dentistry Movement

In short, oral health isn’t just about your teeth and gums; it’s an essential aspect of your overall wellness. By adopting a positive, forward-focused approach, you can enhance not only your smile but also your well-being.

At Glint, I am committed to the positive dentistry movement and aim to provide my patients with exceptional care, innovative technology, and a focus on progress. My goal is to help create a future where esthetic dental wellness and overall well-being go hand-in-hand. Join us, and unlock the potential for a brighter, healthier, and more confident future.
